This policy explains how FiberScore LLC handles information when you use the FiberScore website and optional accounts. See also the Terms of Service.

Who We Are

FiberScore LLC runs fiberscore.co. We are responsible for personal information described in this policy. For privacy questions, email fiberscore@gmail.com. Full company details are on the Legal Notice.

Website and Accounts

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the website, we may collect:

  • Account information: Accounts are free and optional. If you create one, we use your email address and the sign-in details needed to keep you logged in. Sign-in is handled by Supabase, and account emails such as sign-in links and password resets are delivered by Resend.
  • Favorites: Products you save are kept in your browser on your device and are not sent to FiberScore. If you are signed in, they are stored with your account instead so they sync across your devices. There is a saving limit.
  • Messages you send us: If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name (for the form), your email address, and your message. Contact-form messages are emailed to us through FormSubmit and also stored so we can reply.
  • Technical information: Our hosting and analytics tools may collect things like your IP address, country or region derived from your IP, browser type, pages you visit on fiberscore.co, the site that referred you to FiberScore, and basic performance data.
  • How you use FiberScore: Which fiber filters you pick (the fiber and the percentage range), which brand, category, price, and sort you choose, which products you open or save (the product and brand), that you searched (not what you searched for), and that you created an account or signed in, recorded through PostHog. This is not linked to your account or email.

Why We Use It

Where data-protection law applies (including GDPR), we use your information for these reasons:

  • Your account and synced favorites: To provide the service you asked for.
  • Your messages: To reply to you.
  • Running and securing the website: To keep the site working, safe, and fix problems.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights: To understand overall traffic and improve performance. These tools are not used for ads. Email us at fiberscore@gmail.com if you want us to stop using analytics for your visits where we can.
  • PostHog: To see how FiberScore is used, such as which fibers, brands, and categories people filter by and how often they open or save products, so we can improve it. Not used for ads.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website is hosted by Vercel. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Vercel says Web Analytics does not use cookies. Hosting and Speed Insights may still use technical data needed to deliver and measure the site.

We also use PostHog in its cookieless mode: it does not set cookies or store anything in your browser. To count visits, PostHog makes an anonymous code from your IP address and browser details that changes every day, so it cannot recognize you on a later day.

If you sign in, we use cookies or similar browser storage to keep you logged in. Those are needed for your account to work.

The website also uses your browser's local storage to keep favorites (when they are not synced to an account), recent searches, and settings such as autosave on your device. That data is not sent to FiberScore.

You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings (this may sign you out and deletes favorites saved only in your browser).

Companies That Help Us

We use these companies to run FiberScore where needed:

  • Vercel — hosts the website and provides analytics and performance tools
  • PostHog — usage analytics (cookieless)
  • Supabase — handles sign-in and stores account data, synced favorites, and contact-form messages
  • Resend — delivers account emails such as confirmation, sign-in, and password-reset links
  • FormSubmit — emails contact-form messages to us
  • Google (Gmail) — receives emails you send us or submit through the contact form

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information if the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.

FiberScore LLC is based in the United States. The companies that help us with hosting, sign-in, email, and analytics are also mainly in the United States. If you are in the EU, EEA, or United Kingdom, information such as your email or account may be stored or processed in the United States. Those companies usually protect transfers with standard contracts approved for this purpose.

How Long We Keep Information

  • Favorites saved only in your browser: on your device until you remove them or clear your browser's site data.
  • Account and synced favorites: while your account is active, then for a short time afterward if needed to close the account or handle a dispute, unless you ask us to delete sooner where the law allows.
  • Emails and contact-form messages: until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them to handle your request and keep a record of the conversation, whichever comes first.
  • Hosting and analytics logs: for short periods set by those providers, usually days to a few months.
  • PostHog usage events: up to 1 year, then deleted.

Privacy Requests (Access, Correction, Deletion)

While signed in, you can delete your website account with Delete Account in the account menu. That deletes the account and related personal information we control (including synced favorites).

If you cannot sign in and want to see, correct, or delete your information, email fiberscore@gmail.com from the address on your account. You can also use the contact form. Suggested subject lines:

  • Delete my FiberScore account — delete the website account and related personal information we control (including synced favorites)
  • FiberScore data access request — ask what account information we hold
  • FiberScore data correction request — ask us to fix inaccurate account details we control

We aim to reply within 30 days (or sooner if the law requires). We may need to confirm that the request comes from the account holder.

When we delete an account, we delete or remove identifying details from account data we control, except records we must keep for legal reasons. Earlier supporter-subscription records, from when FiberScore offered one, are kept only as long as tax and accounting rules require (Stripe also keeps payment records under its own policies).

FiberScore LLC is based in the United States and does not currently have a separate EU or UK representative. Contact us using the details on this page and the Legal Notice.

Your Rights

If EU/EEA or UK privacy law applies to you, you can ask to:

  • See the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your information in certain cases
  • Limit how we use your information in certain cases
  • Receive a copy of information you gave us, where that right applies
  • Object to uses based on our legitimate interests, including analytics
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent (this does not undo earlier lawful use)
  • File a complaint with a privacy authority in your country. A list of EU authorities is published by the European Data Protection Board.

For information we hold (account email, synced favorites, or emails you send us), use the privacy requests process above or email fiberscore@gmail.com. Favorites saved only in your browser can be removed by clearing your browser's site data.

U.S. State Privacy Rights (Including California)

FiberScore LLC does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects about you.

The personal information we collect is described above: identifiers such as your email address (if you create an account or contact us), the favorites linked to your account, messages you send, and technical and usage information from hosting and analytics. We use it only for the purposes described in this policy.

Depending on where you live, including California under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing (which we do not do). You may use these rights through the privacy requests process above or by emailing fiberscore@gmail.com, yourself or through an authorized agent. We will not treat you differently for using them. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

When you follow a link to a retailer, that retailer (and, for affiliate links, its affiliate network) handles information on its own site under its own privacy policy.

Children

FiberScore is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has created an account or sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will change when we do. If a change is important, we will try to make it noticeable. Continuing to use FiberScore is not treated as consent to this policy.
